The experience of Day Care is a period of a child's life when he/she becomes prepared for the transition from his home to society. Between the home and the center are experiences which should satisfy him/her socially, emotionally, physically and intellectually at his/her stage of development and prepare him/her for the more structured program in school and the experience of life.

                    HISTORY                     

In 1980, the Peace River Child Care Association moved into the former elementary school and had a full capacity of 30 children. With 90 children on a waiting list, a new facility was required; hence the Sugar Plum Tree Day Care’s current site was born.

Since 1990, our association has seen many changes and much more growth. The Peace River Child Care Association has grown to have a capacity of 80 children at our daycare and 30 in our After School Program.

We have also grown to include other PRCCA child care programs in our community. These programs consist of: Peace Parent Link, Families First, the Inclusive Program and our Family Day home Program.

                     PURPOSE                    
 

  • To provide comprehensive child care programs for children 12 months to 6 years together with a part-time core program for school-age children. This includes toddlers, pre-school, and school-age children on a full time and part-time basis.
  • To provide quality child care by knowledgeable, committed and sensitive caregivers.
  • To provide a safe and stimulating environment designed to foster childrens' well being, development and competence.
  • To provide programs in which any citizen may participate as a volunteer for their enhancement and personal gratification and for the enrichment of the social growth of children.
